Daily Affirmation: Today, I Turn My Attention

“The world is peopled by travelers each with a journey. As we make our way through our own obstacles, we are often oblivious to those who travel by our side. And yet when we open our hearts to the adventures and adversities of others, our own journey is illumined. Those who travel beside me are my teachers and those I teach in turn.”

“Today, I turn my attention to the lives of others. I open to the interactive dance of our intersecting lives. Alert and attentive, I learn form those around me. Empathetic and involved, I teach what I have learned. Ours is a journey of shared hearts. I lift the lantern of camaraderie.” – Julia Cameron, Transitions: Prayers and Declarations for a Changing Life.

Daily Affirmation: Today, I Remind Myself

“Sometimes, even in the midst of a busy and crowded life, we are pierced by loneliness. We long to be understood, to feel a sense of deep and enduring companionship. If only, we think, I had someone with whom I could share myself internally, on all levels. If only I had a true companion… At these times, we must look to the ways we are always perfectly partnered, carefully and deeply guarded and guided by the Universe itself. The Universe never abandons us. There is always a perfect partnering, a constant and continual reaching out to each of us.”

“Today, I remind myself that my loneliness I am not alone. I turn my attention to the unique partnering that comes to me from many quarters. I accept the companionship of an interactive Universe. I am with friends.” – Julia Cameron, Transitions: Prayers and Declarations for a Changing Life.

Daily Inspiration: An Inspired Life

“An inspired life requires a community of dialogue and conversation because the treasure is always in earthen vessels. Conversation creates community and compassion. Monologue creates dissension and fanaticism.” – Sam Keen, Hymns to an Unknown God: Awakening The Spirit In Everyday Life.

Heading to Boston to Hear the Dalai Lama Speak at MIT

I’m heading to the Boston area tomorrow morning for a 3 days so that I can attend the inaugural event at The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT on Thursday, April 30.

center-for-ethics

I’ve been granted a press pass from The Center, so I will have a substantial piece on the event when I return from Boston which will be published on The Democratic Daily. I’m very excited about the opportunity to hear His Holiness, The Dalai Lama speak on the topic of Ethics and Enlightened Leadership. I believe The Dalai Lama is one of the great spiritual leaders of our time and in my quest for inner peace his teaching have always resonated with me.

The Center “will promote the Dalai Lama’s vision of a better world by sponsoring interdisciplinary programs and deliberations on ethics.”

A collaborative think tank, the center is supported through the generosity of friends who recognize its potential to help shape tomorrow’s leaders. It will invite distinguished researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, artists and others from diverse cultural, religious and educational backgrounds to contribute to its objectives through workshops and lecture series.

There’s more info on The Center here.

Daily Affirmation: This Life Is Spirit

“One life, one love, one energy runs through all of creation. This Life is Spirit, an inner river that can be tapped into at any time. Knowing this, we are divinely guided at all times. In any place, in any circumstance, the Inner Voice has clarity and direction for me, if I will seek it out. Often it is just an act of focusing that brings the sense of direction more fully into play. When outward events jostle me with their velocity and turbulence, I must actively turn within, seeking higher perceptions.”

“Today, I release the urgency of outer events. I listen to the inner rhythm of God. I set my pace by divine guidance. The world and its busy agendas do not control my soul. My soul rests in God: good, orderly direction.” – Julia Cameron, Transitions: Prayers and Declarations for a Changing Life.
