Poem: Low Tide

I wanted to acknowledge Earth Day 2021 with a piece of poetry, written about my beloved Merrimack River. I am a child of the river. She runs in me…

Low tide—
river’s edge.
Still waters.
A lone duck, draws
a line
across the reflection.

The water—
like glass ripples.
Beyond, spring bustles.
Some days
it even hustles
always calling for introspection

Food For Thought: Life is Precious

Yesterday, we were reminded in the most horrific manner how precious and fragile life is. Like so many I spent the day watching the horror unfold and as a political and news blogger, I found myself glued to my computer sharing the information on the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut.

Today, I want to re-mind friends and readers that compassion, understanding, acceptance and love is so pivotal in our existence here on Earth. Life is fragile. Live each day in joy and choose happiness as your mantra.

Spend some time today reaching out to family and friends and let them know how much to mean to them… And step away from the TV, Computer, Smart Phone and spend some quiet time reflection, either outside or in place of peace in your home.

Love is all there is… Live it.

Daily Affirmations: Goals

“In seeking to accomplish goals, I take one goal at a time, one day at a time. In seeking to accomplish goals, I do not set too many in front of myself or strive too far beyond my means. In seeking to accomplish goals, I realize that I am Human.” ~ Pamela J. Leavey

Food For Thought: I Begin With Simple Things

A deep reflection from J. Krishnamurti today…

I begin with simple things

Seeing the world, seeing humanity, the “me”, and the necessity of a total, radical revolution, how is it possible to bring it about? It can only be brought about when the observer no longer makes an effort to change, because he himself is part of what he tries to change. Therefore all action on the part of the observer ceases totally, and in this total inaction there is a quite different action. There is nothing mysterious or mystical about all this. It is a simple fact. I begin not at the extreme end of the problem, which is the cessation of the observer; I begin with simple things. Can I look at a flower by the wayside or in my room without all the thoughts arising, the thought that says, “It is a rose; I like the smell of it, the perfume,” and so on and so and on? Can I just observe without the observer? If you have not done this, do it, at the lowest, most simple level. It isn’t really the lowest level; if you know how to do that, you have done everything. ~~ From J. Krishanamurti, The Collected Works vol XVI, p 205

It’s all about being in the moment, don’t you think…

Daily Affirmations: Relationships

“Today, I remember that all relationships are assignments.  Whether I learn the hardest lesson, or am reminded of  some lesson that brought me joy; today, I thank the Creator  for allowing me to participate in this learning experiance.” ~~ Pamela J. Leavey

Reflections: When The Tree Shakes

Sometimes in life you step out of your comfort zone and take a chance… Stepping out on a limb, you trust the universe to keep you safe.

But then, the tree shakes because maybe it’s not strong enough to bear your weight and you plummet to the ground.

So you ask the tree, why did you let me down, but the tree doesn’t respond, it just looks at you and shakes, leaving you filled with uncertainty and pain.

There is heartbreak in losing trust. There is grief in what you may think of as your own failure to recognize, that the tree wasn’t as strong and powerful as it appeared.

Illusions can get shattered like the glass in a mirror. In time with reflection you move past the heartbreak and grief and find your bearings once again. Healing takes time.
