Another Year In This Life

Here I sit, the day after my 57th birthday reflecting on my chosen path at this time in my life. The past year has been an interesting journey, from the marriage of my only child in late December last year, to my enrolling in classes at UMass Lowell in January. I am in my 3rd semester now, having a completed a certificate program in Contemporary Communications and now I am forging on to my B.A.
Although I had enrolled in UMass Lowell’s English B.A. program, I am transferring in the spring to UMass Amherst’s University Without Walls program. At UMass Amherst’s UWW, I will be able to take my life experience and write a portfolio of my experience that will be evaluated for credits. My life experience is vast with years spent as an entrepreneur and a political blogger.
As a writer, the opportunity to write about my life, while finally getting my B.A. decades after graduating from high school is an exciting opportunity. In recent months, I have seen and felt my voice expand in new ways and through the UWW program, I am looking forward to taking my experience and education and molding them into a new career path as a writer, a lifelong dream.
I believe in the “it’s never too late” adage at this point in my life, and I am set to prove that. I love to learn and share ideas. I am all about making a difference in the world. Working towards my B.A. with a writing and politics interdisciplinary, is the best thing I have done for myself in decades.
Starting in January, I will spend 2 semesters evaluating and writing about my life. I believe it will be an incredible journey through a life filled with many stories. Because, I have many stories to tell. Here is to another year in this life, a year spent in self-reflection and learning…
