Hozier was on the Today Show this morning performing his breakout hit Take Me To Church and his new single, From Eden, both from his self titled debut CD, Hozier
Hozier performs Take Me To Church on the Today Show:
In his interview this morning, Hozier describes Take Me To Church as “a love song, very much about sexuality, and, and, and, sex I suppose, and what it is to love somebody and devote yourself to somebody … and it kind of reflects upon organizations and the institutions that would teach people to be ashamed about that.”
I’m one of those Hozier fans that would be holding a sign like the young woman in the Today Show audience today, “Take Me to Hozier.” Sigh…
As I said early this week, Hozier appeals to the writer and poet in me with his lyrics which, “hover on the edge of poetic genius singed by the flames of passion, somewhere between the edge of darkness and light.” If you are not listening to Hozier, you should be.

Next time he plays the Boston area, I will make a point of going because, “There’s more to Hozier than his hit ‘Take Me to Church’.”
