The woodpecker is an interesting spirit animal that signifies perseverance, resilience and determination. It possesses kindness, strength, and wisdom.
Whenever I see the little downy woodpecker that frequents the suet on my back steps, I love to watch it make its way up the rail and then flit up to the suet hanging on hook. Sometimes when I am outside and it is on the suet, it lets me get a few short feet away from it, before it dashes back to the large maple tree in the back yard.
