It is Christmas week and for many, this signals a time to cook and bake. I love to cook, but don’t spend as much time cooking as I used to.
I found this recipe for Ricotta Cake on Facebook some time ago. I am contemplating giving it a whirl after I finish making my two different batches of fudge — White Chocolate Cherry and Dark Dark Chocolate Coconut.
This looks so yummy…

Sigmund Brouwer’s Saffire hooked me right from the start. An interesting historical read about the building of the Panama Canal, peppered with a little mystery and intrigue as well as some romance.
The book’s protagonist James Holt is a fascinating character straight out of the turn of the 20th century wild west. I found it hard to put this book down.
I love the way author Sigmund Brouwer wove distinct tidbits of the culture and history of Panama into this fascinating a tale.

Never get so caught up in the noise around you, that you might forget that there are also moments like these when in the still you see the reflection of light and color and you are lifted up, if only for a moment, to the glory and the grace of beauty in its purest form.
Even when things appear to be dark, there is still light behind that darkness. Let that light in. Seek that light. Let the very thought of it envelope you and protect your psyche, now and always.

Sometimes we see things so clearly and other times they are obscured in the darkness. At work in our lives there are are always forces, seen and unseen, some are in the light and some are clouded by darkness. There are shadows at play. There is light dancing delicately upon our view asking us to join it at play. (more…)
