Artist Chooses Clean Design for Website

I recently completed a website for Amesbury artist Luke Lepore:

Luke Lepore

Luke was looking for a clean, simple design for his website. He wanted something that would not distract visitors to the website from his paintings. In the world of digital communication, images speak as loudly as words. Luke’s fabulous art work speaks for itself.

I setup Luke’s website with WordPress and I used the WordPress template Gridsby to create the layout. Gridsby is a great theme that is very flexible, highly responsive and has many built-in options for fonts and colors.

It was a pleasure working with Luke on his website. Contact me here about creating you new website!

Daily Affirmations: Abundance

refuge springFinancial security and abundance for so many people is an issue that seems so difficult to achieve. I have struggled with this issue throughout much of my adult life, owning two small businesses and raising a daughter alone. The struggle and the worry of having enough to make ends meet at times seems so overwhelming that it is easy to give in to despair. But despair is not an option, because despair does not fix the problems that weight us down.

When you go through life often living as austerely as humanly possible you learn lessons if you keep an open heart and open mind. This affirmation from Louise Hay has helped me through some tough times in the past, when it seemed that there was not enough to pay the bills and put food on the table:

My income is only a channel; it is not my source. My supply comes from one source, the Universe itself, and it can never run dry. ~ Louise Hay

I have learned over the years to think in terms of abundance and to give thanks for all that I do have. This requires learning to re-think certain aspects of your life. Inner change comes from forming a different style of communication with yourself and being open to the idea that the Universe will provide. How we think about things in our lives makes a difference. Words can easily manifest into intent when repeated often. I re-mind myself daily:  “I am abundant, I have all that I need.”

Food For Thought: On Friendship Online and Offline

swansI spend an inordinate amount of time online. With four websites and long time social media presence, I’ve come to know a lot of people over the many years I have been online. Many of my online friendships have actually manifested into offline friendships as well. The fact is, the opportunity to meet like-minded people online is exponentially wider than it is in the average person’s offline life.

I enjoy the fact that I can meet and learn from people all over the country, let alone the world. I value the friendships I have made online. I enjoy sharing information, discussion and sometimes debate with these friends on a multitude of topics.

Yet, there is always something lacking in an online conversation, and Sherry Turkle nails that with her post on the NY Times Room For Debate section: Only Face-to-Face Friendships Involve Real Emotions. Turkle notes: (more…)

Daily Affirmations: Disconnect to Reconnect

caressing the light

It is not uncommon to let our busy lives get in the way of our relationships. Today, I re-mind myself that it is a choice I can make, to be present in the lives of my loved ones. This means not just showing up, but also to be fully there, unattached to outside influences, engaging in conversation, and even quite moments.

Technology has changed the way we communicate. At the very core of relationships, it is the one on one communication, the touch, the hug, the eye contact, that each of us crave and need in our lives. Sometimes we all need to step back and disengage from technology so we can truly feel and relate to others. Today I affirm that when I am with my loved ones I will disconnect so that I may reconnect.

Food For Thought: Communication

“Communication can heal.”

Henry James Borys-The Sacred FireThink about that… While we’re all so busy online communicating on social media websites, we forget, perhaps the value and the sheer wonder of sitting with a friend, talking, communicating, sharing joy and sorrow in the same physical space, together. I too am guilty of this… (more…)
