Food For Thought: Life As You Wish

There is such truth in this, but sometimes it can be so difficult to break through our own difficulties…

In almost every case, nothing is stopping you, nothing is holding you back but your own thoughts about yourself and about “how life is.” Your personal freedom to experience yourself and life as you wish is not being limited. ~~ Neale Donald Walsch

No matter what holds you back, continue to push through and fly free…

Food For Thought: Choice

We always have a choice… always:

The statement “I have no choice” is a lie. Be honest with yourself as to why you are choosing to do a particular thing. Then, do it gladly, knowing that you are always getting to do what you want. You can choose. Isn’t that power? ~~ Neale Donald Walsch

Reflections: Moving, Changing

When I look at bare trees, I see ever moving, ever changing limbs of life that are preparing to bloom again. For, they have their seasons just as we do. Our lives are indeed ever moving, ever changing and in that movement and growth we grow as a tree grows.

Sometimes we feel as though our lives are caught in some strange vortex, in which we liquify, as the bare limbs in the photo above have been.

We feel our selves spinning around, flowing in every which way, unable to grasp a bare branch and hold on. It takes our breath away. It confuses our senses. It is ego, fear manifest. Be it brief or lingering, we simply want the whirling to stop.

Give in to the vortex, take the ride… Understand that all things in life happen for a reason, and there are lessons to be learned.

I always know, deep down in my heart and soul, that if I am lost, I will be found. And I will be stronger for the wild ride in the vortex of life…

Reflections — David Whyte: Taking the Courageous Step

I just finished listening to this wonderful audio of David Whyte, from Sounds True:

David Whyte explores the “courageous step” that is often so difficult for us to make on our own journey, and gently reveals the way we unknowingly sabotage ourselves instead of turning towards life’s challenges.

It’s an absolute must listen if your going through change on your journey through life ~~ Listen here.

Reflections: Abstract or Reality

A photographer can capture an image in mere seconds with a camera…

But is what we see always the reality of what it is, or do we see things sometimes in more abstract views that make us question reality? (more…)

Inspirations: Kahlil Gibran on Love

On this Valentine’s Day I am reminded of this beautiful and inspiring passage from Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet…

When love beckons to you, follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you believe in him, Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself. He threshes you to make you naked. He sifts you to free you from your husks. He grinds you to whiteness. He kneads you until you are pliant; And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God’s sacred feast.
All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life’s heart.

But if in your fear you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure, Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor, Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears. Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself. Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, “I am in the heart of God.” And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of love; And to bleed willingly and joyfully. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving; To rest at the noon hour and meditate love’s ecstasy; To return home at eventide with gratitude; And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.
