Food For Thought

“What we call “the spiritual life” and the “spiritual quest” are simply the ways we discover to transcend our delusions of our separateness, superiority, or inferiority and gradually feel our identity with our fellow beings and compassion for them. ” ~~ Sam Keen: Hymns To An Unknown God

More from Sam Keen today… Food For Thought…

“I am that being who has the capacity to transcend my mental-emotional-bodily conditioning. I am the one who can escape the imprisonment of my ancient character armor. I am the one who is not determined by yesterday. The correct names for this capacity for self-transcendence are – freedom, spirit, and soul.” ~ Sam Keen – Hymns To An Unknown God

“The spirit, like the wind, blows where it will. No spiritual technology produces grace. We can go through the motions of religion for a lifetime and still have a hard heart and a paranoid mind.” “Breath is the simplest vehicle of transcendence.” ~~ Sam Keen – Hymns To An Unknown God

Food For Thought: Prayer For The Earth

Food for thought as we near Earth Day 2011

Prayer For The Earth

Dear God,
Please bless and protect this sacred jewel,
Our vulnerable planet so besieged.
May the rivers and the oceans and the sky and the land
All be repaired somehow, dear Lord.
May the barbarism end, which threatens to destroy our priceless treasure.
For surely the earth has been our home,
The home of our parents unto all generations.
For the sake of our children, Lord,
Save this earth.
Place in all minds a greater awe before her mysteries.
Shield her and heal her wounds,
Restore her to her former glory.
Save her, Lord, from us.
Amen.

Food For Thought

It is important to reflect on the kindness of others. Every aspect of our present well-being is due to others’ hard work. The buildings we live and work in, the roads we travel, the clothes we wear, and the food we eat, are all provided by others. None of them would exist but for the kindness of so many people unknown to us. ~~ The Dalai Lama
