Food For Thought: The Battles are the Lessons

Sometimes we hold our hearts behind a shield of our own making. For some of us have been through many battles. The battles are the lessons that are oft hard won, and sometimes lost. Yet, we rise with tenacity of a seasoned warrior, for we know there are miracles waiting for us in the smallest of coincidences.

Life wears us down sometimes and we become weary from the battles. The older we get, sometimes the harder it seems to be to bounce back and come out fighting again…

Don’t let your shield thwart your own happiness.

Food For Thought: Moving On

I had had my heart set for a few months now to move to a new apartment. I had two criteria that mattered most, after living in a downtown apartment with no yard or view. I was looking for “a place with a yard’ and “a room with a view.” Quietly, I set my intent out into the Universe and the Universe answered at exactly the right time. I’m moving on… The view and the yard are awesome. It is time for a change and I am so ready for it.

Moving is a wonderful thing because it opens the channels to new energy. The moment I stepped out of my car at my new place I felt like I was home. And I walked across the threshold of the back door, into the old mud room, I knew I was home. And then I say the view from the living room, and walked up the stairs to take in the view from the front bedroom. Ah… There’s no place like home. I had found my new home.  (more…)

Food For Thought: The Lone Boat

dory

The lone boat floats in the water, it is solitary and complex, yet it appears so simple and serene. The lone boat can only weather so many storms, before it goes adrift. The lone boat may break and be patched up to float again. In time, the lone boat will sink from the weight of what it heaves to shore.

Food For Thought: Fear is a Cry for Love

Today, I say a silent prayer for those who are compelled by fear. I recognize that fear is a cry for love. I understand that an emotional or physical attack is a cry for love. I open my arms and heart to those who are afraid to love. I practice compassion, acceptance and understanding and pray that all fear will one day be replaced with love in the hearts and minds of all sentient beings. ~ Namaste… Pamela

Food For Thought: The Four Agreements

Yesterday, I was faced with comments about my life from someone that I found terribly difficult to ignore. The comments were rude and hurtful and I was vulnerable and open to taking it personally.

As the day wore on, I was reminded by a dear friend to heed Don Miguel Ruiz’s The Four Agreements. In that, the episode was a lesson in remembering the 2nd agreement: Don’t Take Anything Personally:

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be victim of needless suffering.

While I try to live by The Four Agreements daily, some days I must say, are simply easier than others.  (more…)

Reflections: Life is a Journey

I think a lot about traveling these days, but time and money are not easily accessible at this time. So instead, I spend my time traveling the places I would like to visit through my daydreams. I imagine I am walking the green hills of Ireland, or standing on the rocky cliffs watching the blue ocean waves roll gently to the shore.
