Be In The Moment

This quote from Pema Chodron is the perfect reminder of the importance of being in the moment…

To be in the moment takes practice and it involves freeing the mind from concerns and worries that bog us down and prevent us from fully appreciating the moment we are in.

When we are in the moment, we can learn many great lessons as Pema Chodron alludes.

Who Is Your Audience?

Writing copy for a website is like writing a paper for college, you always need to be cognizant of who your audience is. If you are marketing to a mixed demographic that might range in age from 18 to 80, it is important to remember that your tone and wording set the stage for how people view you online. Written communication is a powerful tool. If you set the wrong tone you fail to engage and will draw either criticism or disinterest.

Last night, I was comparing the issues statements and websites of two local politicians running for state office. I was struck by the word “my crystal ball leans” prefacing an important issue. Voters don’t want to know a candidate’s supposition, they want to know his platform on an issue and what that candidate will do to make changes. We can all make “crystal ball” predictions, but typically when voters go to the voting booth, they tend to vote for the candidate who has ideas, not predictions.

Communication is a powerful tool. If you set the wrong tone, you leave yourself open for a realm of misinterpretation. This applies in politics and business.

Just my two cents…

Daily Affirmations: Time For Myself

Sunset on the River
Sunset on the River

Today, I re-mind myself of the importance of taking time for myself, especially in the midst of change and upheaval in my life. I affirm to myself that I am renewed and revived by the quiet moments I find in the midst of my day. I stop, if only for a moment, take a deep breath, close my eyes, envision a beautiful place, I exhale, open my eyes, and feel gratitude for the moment. For in that moment I am renewed. I affirm today and everyday that I will take time for myself, even if it is the briefest moment.

“Great and soulful events–falling in love, opening to the Beyond-Within, the birth of ideas and babies–march to no tick-tock but appear in their own good time, when the heart is prepared and the moment is ripe.” – Sam Keen: Hymns to an Unknown God: Awakening The Spirit In Everyday Life

The reflective self seeks answers in the depth of their being. Like the egret searching the waters for a morsel of nourishment, the minds plumbs its depths for sustenance for the soul. In the silence of nature, answers flood the mind in code like fashion, as we release and let go, and become one with nature. ~ Pamela Leavey

Food For Thought: I Am Abundant

When the flower are in bloom we see it as abundance, for it is rich and full of life. Our own abundance blossoms, blooms and wanes like a flower, for that is the cycle of life playing out continually as we walk our path.

In those times when the flowers have gone dormant, and abundance seems a distant memory, I summon my gratitude for all that I do have and I re-mind myself, “I am abundant, I have love… I am abundant, I have money.” Gratitude is the food for thought that gives substance and sustenance to our abundance. To recognize that and give thanks for all that we have, is a powerful statement of acceptance that opens the door to the blessings of the Universe for the creation of all that we need.
