Food For Thought: A Flower Bud

Peony Buds
Peony Buds

Treat this day as though it is a flower bud, opening and unfurling its petals as the moments of the day pass on. Each moment, each petal unfurling, is an opportunity for growth and change. We can blossom in our lives as flower bud changes from a tight, young bud to wide open flower, rich and heady with pollen to germinate the seeds of life elsewhere.

We are the cycle of life, as is the flower bud. We gain nothing if we remain tight and closed, a bud unwilling to open. We must look towards each day and unfurl our lives with happiness, gratitude and inspiration to be the most glorious flower we can be. That is living in the moment.

Food For Thought: On Life Lessons

sandypoint2

Our path is always changing, as is the scenery. One day we find ourselves heading in a completely different direction then we had planned. What happened, we ask ourselves, how did my life change so suddenly without my approval of the plan? Lessons appear in our lives when we least expect them. These life lessons are our opportunities to rise above the adversities in our lives and become more than we were when the lessons presented themselves. How we handle those lessons determines whether we learn from the lessons or stay stuck, wallowing in despair.

Life can be harsh and life can be filled with wonder and joy. It is up to each of us to make the best of what we are presented with each and every day. Each day, I re-mind myself to find even the smallest sliver gratitude, joy and happiness. Even in the midst of the most profound grief and sorrow, we can all find something to be grateful for each day. Gratitude matters. When we strive to live in the moment we begin to transcend the difficulties placed in the midst of our path.

Daily Affirmations: Happiness Is A Choice

“Happiness is a choice, not a condition. I can choose to be happy, or I can choose to be unhappy. Truly, what choice is there to make, but that of happiness, when I know that happiness is the Universe’s choice for me. This is not to say that there are times, circumstances, situations that truly warrant sadness and cause emotional suffering, however to remain in suffering too long is to wallow. If I am to wallow, then let me wallow in joy and the knowledge that Heaven is here, now.” – Pamela J. Leavey

Daily Affirmations: Open Heart

Today, I re-mind myself that an open heart that is sincere and compassionate fuels my own confidence and self-esteem as well as giving comfort and solace to others. I acknowledge that my open heart may be vulnerable to grief and sadness as well as happiness and joy, however all relationships bring teachings that we may learn from them. All relationships are assignments… There is something we must learn, something we must give, something we must receive in those assignments. This is all part of the lesson.

Daily Affirmations: Every Little Ray of Light

saltmarshSometimes our hearts and our minds are like a cloudy sky blocking the sunshine from our lives. We’ve struggled, we’ve suffered loss, we’ve been weighted down by sadness and grief. We wait patiently the skies to open, showing the reward of the dazzling sun.

Today I re-mind myself that every little ray of light that passes through my heart and mind, creates a fertile ground for inner peace and happiness. It may be cloudy outside, but I can make the sun shine in my heart and mind, by simply choosing to give joy a space in my life today.

Namaste… Pamela

Daily Affirmations: Happiness

double orange lilies Happiness is not a gift but a choice. I affirm each day… In order to be happy, I must choose to be happy, everyday. It is not a gift, and I must work at achieving my happiness. I alone can make myself happy. It starts with a choice, and a re-programing of my thought process.

Namaste… Pamela
