Artist Statement: As a photographer I am drawn to color, light, movement, patterns and reflections that occur in nature. I am a visual spatial person who naturally sees what is before my eyes within a frame. Throughout my life I have been inspired by art and nature, each in their many forms. Photography a marvelous medium for me as multimedia artist, writer and photographer, as it provides an instant gratification of creating something tangible that I can share with others. I hope you find inspiration in my work, and invest in my artistic vision. With gratitude… Pamela Leavey
I wandered through the forest, lost and bereft, until I came across a sacred grove. The tree in the center was broken and battered like me, yet its form was that of a cross. Not unlike myself when I extend my arms up to shoulder height and hold them there. But I was too tired to stand there like the tree with my arms held aloft. It was no small thing just to be present most days, let alone holding a pose. So, I sat in the center of the sacred grove and I asked the tree for some of its strength.
I’ve been working on breaking a long spell of writer’s block, that has quite frankly, gone on too long. Writing here on a more regular basis has been very helpful and I’m starting to feel accountable to showing up and writing something, anything on this page. The fact is, I’ve got a lot of things to write about and right now that seems more appealing than working on memoir and personal essay revision.
So, I’m a mission to shake off my writer’s block and I hope you’ll join me on my journey as I poke about for interesting things to write about and maybe bring back an old popular topic here, Daily Affirmations.
Life is a path. It’s a metaphor I use often because I am a walker, and over the years I’ve recognized the changes in my life are shifts in the path. One year into the COVID pandemic, I shifting my path. I am not sure where it will lead me. Time, non-existent time, will tell.
Please remember that for many people who live alone, this “stay at home” – “shelter in place” new normal in the midst of the coronavirus, is a lonely trail. Make sure those folks who you know are walking this path alone, know that they are loved. Peace… 💚
Life is like a reflection… The deeper we go, the further we seek, we find answers to the questions. As above… so below. Never stop seeking the answers. Never stop searching for the clues. Always be curious and remain skeptical of things that make you doubtful. There’s always a message if you have eyes to see, ears to listen and a voice to speak your mind.
With each new day, we have the opportunity to start over. The canvas is fresh and we can decide how we want to color our day and our life. We’re all here to make a difference in the world. We’re all here live our best lives. We can decide how we want our day to affect us. We can reject negativity that is thrown our way, we can decide to rise above the obstacles that impede us.
Within every wall that blocks our walk of life, there is an opening to escape what holds us in. Don’t let the walls keep you from moving forward. Find an opening and discover a different way.
Today, I affirm that I will not be deterred by negativity, obstacles or walls that keep me from living my fullest life. I have the power to move forward each and every day, and in that power rests my ability to color my world and the world around me with love and light. And so it is, I set my intent and recognize… Intent makes manifest.
