Quote of the Day: Pema Chodron

stagepool-storm

I’ve been rehabbing a bad back, resting my body, mind and soul and looking daily for the answers to a myriad of questions. This morning I read this quote from Pema Chodron, it really resonates for me…

“This is what we are here to see for ourselves. Both the brilliance and the suffering are here all the time; they interpenetrate each other. For a fully enlightened being, the difference between what is neurosis and what is wisdom is very hard to perceive, because somehow the energy underlying both of them is the same. The basic creative energy of life … bubbles up and courses through all of existence. It can be experienced as open, free, unburdened, full of possibility, energizing. Or this very same energy can be experienced as petty, narrow, stuck, caught… The basic point of it all is just to learn to be extremely honest and also wholehearted about what exists in your mind — thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, the whole thing that adds up to what we call “me” or “I.” Nobody else can really begin to sort out for you what to accept and what to reject in terms of what wakes you up and what makes you fall asleep. No one else can really sort out for you what to accept — what opens up your world — and what to reject — what seems to keep you going round and round in some kind of repetitive misery.” – Pema Chodron

Daily Affirmations: Accomplishing Goals

More often than not it seems as though I have way too much on my plate. School, work, family, take up a lot of my time and goals I have set for myself often become stressful tasks to work through. In these times I know I need to step back and give myself the time to accomplish my goals and recognize that I can only do so much in a day…

“In seeking to accomplish my goals, I take one goal at a time and one day at a time. In seeking to accomplish my goals, I try not set too many goal in front of myself or strive too far beyond my physical and emotional means. In seeking to accomplish goals, I realize that I am Human and can only do so much each day. I recognize that the key to achieving my goals is to set them in a reality based time frame and give myself time to not only accomplish my goals but also to enjoy my life.” – Pamela J. Leavey

Daily Affirmations: Relationships

I am a woman with a huge capacity to love, yet I have spent much of my life single. It seems a strange dichotomy at times, especially when the heart has been freshly wounded by a failed attempt at a relationship. What was first joy and happiness borne of finding someone special, turns to pain and grief, when the reality sets in that a relationship is not meant to be.

In these times, when the heart aches for what might have been… I re-mind myself, I am abundant, I have love. I am blessed with the knowledge that my life is filled with wonderful family and friends who love me and I love each of them. I thank the Universe for each wonderful relationship in my life and I acknowledge, I am abundant, I have love.

Daily Affirmations: Abundance

refuge springFinancial security and abundance for so many people is an issue that seems so difficult to achieve. I have struggled with this issue throughout much of my adult life, owning two small businesses and raising a daughter alone. The struggle and the worry of having enough to make ends meet at times seems so overwhelming that it is easy to give in to despair. But despair is not an option, because despair does not fix the problems that weight us down.

When you go through life often living as austerely as humanly possible you learn lessons if you keep an open heart and open mind. This affirmation from Louise Hay has helped me through some tough times in the past, when it seemed that there was not enough to pay the bills and put food on the table:

My income is only a channel; it is not my source. My supply comes from one source, the Universe itself, and it can never run dry. ~ Louise Hay

I have learned over the years to think in terms of abundance and to give thanks for all that I do have. This requires learning to re-think certain aspects of your life. Inner change comes from forming a different style of communication with yourself and being open to the idea that the Universe will provide. How we think about things in our lives makes a difference. Words can easily manifest into intent when repeated often. I re-mind myself daily:  “I am abundant, I have all that I need.”

Namaste… Pamela

Daily Affirmations: Letting Go

Balancing a life with with too many things can wear down even the strongest person. Sometimes we get caught up in the desire to let go of things that no longer serve us in out lives, but we are afraid to let those things job. Maybe it is a part-time job for extra money, a relationship that is no longer working, or an object that no longer holds sentimental value. Whatever these things are that we hold onto are taking up space in our lives, whether we want them too or not. Still, letting go is difficult and we hold on until perhaps the Universe gives us a sign…

Today, I am grateful for the signs and signals of the Universe, that guide my path. I recognize that there are certain signs that appear in my life that truly are signals that it is time to release and let go. Everything is impermanent. I breathe deeply, I exhale and release… In letting go, I know I am making room for new opportunities.

Namaste… Pamela
