Wise Women

Wise Women

It has been said that wise women
Have many stories to tell,
Perhaps that may be true
Of those who have lived
On the edge of both
Heaven and hell.
I wake each day to face the mirror
To see a face that hides
It’s past,
Oh yes, you see it has it’s stories
That hide behind the painted mask.

Like The Sun

Like The Sun

I shall always shine
Like the sun
For you.
I shall always stand
Bright and beautiful,
Next to you;
That you may
Receive the benefit,
Of my power.
I shall always shine
Like the sun
For you.
I shall always comfort,
Guide and care,
For you;
That your light
May grow
To protect me.
I shall always shine
Like the sun
For you.

The Power To Move Mountains

Hold tight to your dreams,
Be steadfast in your desires,
You hold in your heart,
The power to move mountains.
Let nothing deter you,
Your goals are your soul,
The potential you are
Awakening to,
Is bursting around you.
Give thanks where its needed,
Give help when you can.
Expect not from others,
For what you set forth,
The joy of another’s happiness
Is truly your reward.
You are in all you do,
The best you can be,
Hold tight to your dreams,
Then just wait and see.
You hold in your heart,
The power to move mountains.

There Is

There is an empty space
Where hearts meet in knowing;
That two people share
And fill
Like water and flowers
Together in a vase.
There is a silent place
Where two voices can be heard
Crying out in joy
For love shared,
Becomes the sound
Of the grandest symphony.

International Women’s Day: Watch Us Stand Strong

Today is International Women’s Day. Given that, I wanted to share a poem I wrote in 1994:

Watch Us Stand Strong

Long have we walked
Through the valley of our sadness,
Searching for a way
To end all the madness.
Long have we toiled,
Silent and unnoticed,
Suppressing our knowledge
And our gift to heal the world.
We are large by number,
We are small through the ages,
There are few that have spoken,
Few that dare to read
Our pages.
We are mothers,
We are daughters,
We are sisters,
We are friends;
We contain the lifeblood,
And the passion
Of all the universe
In our souls.
We are women,
Full of knowledge,
And beauty;
The Queens of our planet.
We are home now,
Watch us stand strong,
It is time to heal
Our world.

Walk To The Beat

I walk to the beat
Of The Goddess’s drum,
I sing her ancient song;
I call out her name
But, she already knows mine.
I am her sister,
I am her daughter,
She is crone,
I am apprentice.
I feel her heartbeat
In every beat my heart takes;
She speaks to me in my sleep,
She speaks to me when I am awake.
I follow closely in her footsteps
I learn my lessons well;
I have claimed myself as part of her
And she as part of me.
She listens quietly
When I cry out in pain;
She wisely heals my ills.
She gives me hope
By her very purpose
Takes me back where I come from.
I walk to the beat
Of the Goddess’s drum,
I sing her ancient song.
She fills me with her many gifts;
I bless her with my love,
Devotion pure, divine and boundless
For she there is no less.
I am her sister,
I am her daughter,
She is crone,
I am apprentice.
I claim her wisdom
As part of mine,
I share her with my sisters;
For she exists in every woman
Who hears the call of their name;
From hidden place
Thought long lost,
She rises like the sun.
It is the Goddess
In every woman,
Who walks to the beat
Of her drum.
