Daily Affirmations: I Am Grateful

Today, I look to the colors of nature to remind me of how colorful and rich my own life is. I have been so blessed throughout my life, with the gift of not only colorful family and friends, but also a colorful and diverse life that has filled my soul with so much appreciation for all the colors of nature and inspires bountiful creative energy. I am grateful. ~~ Pamela J. Leavey

Reflections: Moving, Changing

When I look at bare trees, I see ever moving, ever changing limbs of life that are preparing to bloom again. For, they have their seasons just as we do. Our lives are indeed ever moving, ever changing and in that movement and growth we grow as a tree grows.

Sometimes we feel as though our lives are caught in some strange vortex, in which we liquify, as the bare limbs in the photo above have been.

We feel our selves spinning around, flowing in every which way, unable to grasp a bare branch and hold on. It takes our breath away. It confuses our senses. It is ego, fear manifest. Be it brief or lingering, we simply want the whirling to stop.

Give in to the vortex, take the ride… Understand that all things in life happen for a reason, and there are lessons to be learned.

I always know, deep down in my heart and soul, that if I am lost, I will be found. And I will be stronger for the wild ride in the vortex of life…

Reflections: Abstract or Reality

A photographer can capture an image in mere seconds with a camera…

But is what we see always the reality of what it is, or do we see things sometimes in more abstract views that make us question reality? (more…)

Reflections: When The Tree Shakes

Sometimes in life you step out of your comfort zone and take a chance… Stepping out on a limb, you trust the universe to keep you safe.

But then, the tree shakes because maybe it’s not strong enough to bear your weight and you plummet to the ground.

So you ask the tree, why did you let me down, but the tree doesn’t respond, it just looks at you and shakes, leaving you filled with uncertainty and pain.

There is heartbreak in losing trust. There is grief in what you may think of as your own failure to recognize, that the tree wasn’t as strong and powerful as it appeared.

Illusions can get shattered like the glass in a mirror. In time with reflection you move past the heartbreak and grief and find your bearings once again. Healing takes time.

Gift Of Life

Searching through some old Word docs recently I found some of my poetry that I had put into Word docs from my journals. This one called out to be shared…

Gift Of Life

Love,
Be it an expression,
A word,
A thought,
A feeling;
Used oft by some,
Not by others.
For many it be
The truth that sets,
Them free.
For some it be
The chains,
That binds them.
Love,
To my tenet,
Be my gift
Of life.
For, I am free,
To love,
You;
And, all who touch
My soul
With the clarity
That each expression,
Be my gift
Of life,
To share with joy,
And oft
Forgiveness
In my heart.

On The Parker River Path

In the midst of my imposed immobility, I occasionally get sprung from the sanctuary that I call home, and I am whisked away for drive through the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge.

The winter days have been so unseasonably warm over the past few weeks and my soul craves the sun and fresh air, not to mention some good bird sightings as well.

On my most recent excursion to the Refuge, which truly is the most marvelous stronghold for my soul, we were lucky to find a lovely White Egret sunning near two Mute Swans. Suddenly the White Egret took to flight and it was spectacular to witness it’s ascent into the skies.

I wish my camera did better justice to the majesty of watching this lovely bird in flight… I’m was filled with gratitude with the blessing of just quietly witnessing it’s presence.
