Food For Thought: The Lone Boat

dory

The lone boat floats in the water, it is solitary and complex, yet it appears so simple and serene. The lone boat can only weather so many storms, before it goes adrift. The lone boat may break and be patched up to float again. In time, the lone boat will sink from the weight of what it heaves to shore.

Food For Thought: Fear is a Cry for Love

Today, I say a silent prayer for those who are compelled by fear. I recognize that fear is a cry for love. I understand that an emotional or physical attack is a cry for love. I open my arms and heart to those who are afraid to love. I practice compassion, acceptance and understanding and pray that all fear will one day be replaced with love in the hearts and minds of all sentient beings. ~ Namaste… Pamela

Reflections: Life is a Journey

I think a lot about traveling these days, but time and money are not easily accessible at this time. So instead, I spend my time traveling the places I would like to visit through my daydreams. I imagine I am walking the green hills of Ireland, or standing on the rocky cliffs watching the blue ocean waves roll gently to the shore.

Reflections: Trees

When I seek sanctuary from the trials and tribulations of life I spend time in nature. I walk amidst the fields and forests, along the marshes and beaches. I spend time observing nature and becoming one with it. I never cease to marvel at the sights and sounds of nature. I revel in the colors and textures I see before me. I reach out to touch the very palpable flesh of a blade of grass, a pebble or shell on the beach, the bark of a tree. What marvel is the bark of a tree for it is so many colors and textures.

Trees speak to me. They tell me of their struggles surviving in the forest or standing alone in the middle of the field. Trees share their stories with each of us, but we must be open to receive…

Ode to Trees is a lovely essay by Herman Hesse and it can be found in his book Wandering: Notes and Sketches: (more…)

Reflections: I Am Green

I am green in my understanding of life. I am always open to learning new things.

Forest Fern
Forest Fern

I am delicate like the fern, but hearty as the pine that stands tall and reaches for the sun. I have weathered many storms, but I still unfurl every spring laying out my delicate soul upon the forest floor, reaching high into the sky to soar with eagles. I am nature. Nature is me. I am green and I will grow until my day comes to wither and return to the earth.

Daily Affirmations: Accomplishing Goals

More often than not it seems as though I have way too much on my plate. School, work, family, take up a lot of my time and goals I have set for myself often become stressful tasks to work through. In these times I know I need to step back and give myself the time to accomplish my goals and recognize that I can only do so much in a day…

“In seeking to accomplish my goals, I take one goal at a time and one day at a time. In seeking to accomplish my goals, I try not set too many goal in front of myself or strive too far beyond my physical and emotional means. In seeking to accomplish goals, I realize that I am Human and can only do so much each day. I recognize that the key to achieving my goals is to set them in a reality based time frame and give myself time to not only accomplish my goals but also to enjoy my life.” – Pamela J. Leavey

Accomplishing goals are about seizing the opportunity to get things done, rather than procrastinating.
