Daily Affirmations: My Life Is Like A Garden

secret gardenToday, I re-mind myself that my life is like a garden. If I want to blossom and thrive in the sun, I must carefully cultivate the aspects of my life that need tending. The garden left untended becomes unwieldy and overgrown with weeds. The life goals left untended so too, will be encompassed by weeds that overcome goals, and soon the goals will be unrecognizable. I tend carefully my goals, for they are the flowers of my life.

Daily Affirmations: Disconnect to Reconnect

caressing the light

It is not uncommon to let our busy lives get in the way of our relationships. Today, I re-mind myself that it is a choice I can make, to be present in the lives of my loved ones. This means not just showing up, but also to be fully there, unattached to outside influences, engaging in conversation, and even quite moments.

Technology has changed the way we communicate. At the very core of relationships, it is the one on one communication, the touch, the hug, the eye contact, that each of us crave and need in our lives. Sometimes we all need to step back and disengage from technology so we can truly feel and relate to others. Today I affirm that when I am with my loved ones I will disconnect so that I may reconnect.

Daily Affirmations: Open Heart Open Mind

4 doriesToday, I re-mind myself that an open heart and an open mind is a conduit to a rich, interesting life filled with an abundance of love and prosperity. I breathe in and release all negativity as I exhale, making room for positive energy to flow my way. In this, I am abundant.

Daily Affirmations: Letting Go

Balancing a life with with too many things can wear down even the strongest person. Sometimes we get caught up in the desire to let go of things that no longer serve us in out lives, but we are afraid to let those things job. Maybe it is a part-time job for extra money, a relationship that is no longer working, or an object that no longer holds sentimental value. Whatever these things are that we hold onto are taking up space in our lives, whether we want them too or not. Still, letting go is difficult and we hold on until perhaps the Universe gives us a sign…

Today, I am grateful for the signs and signals of the Universe, that guide my path. I recognize that there are certain signs that appear in my life that truly are signals that it is time to release and let go. Everything is impermanent. I breathe deeply, I exhale and release… In letting go, I know I am making room for new opportunities.

Daily Affirmations: Procrastination

river viewI have worked at home for a very long time. I think it is easy to fall into bad habits, most prevalent, the evil procrastination which can be an insidious time-sucker. When you work at home and you are solely accountable to yourself, these bad habits can creep up out of nowhere and suddenly you find new habits that do not serve your purpose, getting in your way.

As a writer, I know that this is ripe territory for the inner critic to appear, and thwart my efforts. Procrastination also gets in the way of other important things, as we say to ourselves, “I’ll just do that later.”

Today, I re-mind myself that procrastination wastes my time and causes worry, because I am not getting things done. I affirm that I will practice today and each day forward, to put my work, which is my passion and my responsibilities first. I recognize that as I change my behavior and get my daily tasks at hand done first, I will have more free time to enjoy, because procrastination wastes my precious time. My time is precious.

Daily Affirmations: Job Well Done

garden on main A few days ago I posted about the issues faced for a writer or in fact any creative person who is self-employed. We are our own worst critics and often when we complete a job or a project we fail to give our self recognition and reward for a job well done, as Julia Cameron notes below in her lovely affirmation from her book Transitions: Prayers and Declarations for a Changing Life.

Last night I completed a draft of the first of three essays for my Prior Learning Portfolio at UMass Amherst’s UWW. When complete, I hope to garner 24 credits for my prior experience which includes two small businesses, creative writing, political and news blogging and contemporary communications.

This morning, I re-mind myself… (more…)
