I have worked at home for a very long time. I think it is easy to fall into bad habits, most prevalent, the evil procrastination which can be an insidious time-sucker. When you work at home and you are solely accountable to yourself, these bad habits can creep up out of nowhere and suddenly you find new habits that do not serve your purpose, getting in your way.
As a writer, I know that this is ripe territory for the inner critic to appear, and thwart my efforts. Procrastination also gets in the way of other important things, as we say to ourselves, “I’ll just do that later.”
Today, I re-mind myself that procrastination wastes my time and causes worry, because I am not getting things done. I affirm that I will practice today and each day forward, to put my work, which is my passion and my responsibilities first. I recognize that as I change my behavior and get my daily tasks at hand done first, I will have more free time to enjoy, because procrastination wastes my precious time. My time is precious.
