Reflection: Who Am I and Why Am I Here
February 20, 2020
Who am I and why am I here? Let me fill you in on what I am up to… I’ve been working on my website for a couple of months now. It had fallen by the wayside while I was in school for six and half years. A month ago, I had written here that I was working on “getting back on track with my writing.” I have to say, it feels good to be back at it. One of the focuses I have had in the past two weeks now is to get back on track with writing Daily Affirmations.
I’ve been sharing other writers affirmations and then writing my own Daily Affirmations online now for over 20 years. I initially started sharing affirmations online daily on my first business website, the now defunct AromatherapyGoddess.com. The business was a new age aromatherapy and bath & body business. I made my own products and built my website and taught myself to self-market my products online reading everything I could about how to market products online. One of the common themes was that the more content you had online the more traffic you would receive and the longer you would keep someone on your website. That still holds today.
It was really quite the little cottage industry that I built from scratch with a whopping first investment of $300 in April 1996. I made my own products. I design my logos and my packaging. I wrote all the copy for my website and my print literature including a 30 page catalog. I did all of this as single mother, living in the Valley in Los Angeles in a two bedroom, second floor apartment. But, I digress, that is another story to be told.
So, back to adding content to my website, I first started adding a new Daily Inspirations page on my website every day, old school method, using MicroSoft Front Page and quotes from various New Age and Spiritual books I was reading at the time. I watched my stats counter on my domain and saw that I was indeed drawing traffic to my website, so I decided to step up my game and add a Daily Affirmations page as well. At first I was using other writer’s affirmations as I stated above and then I decided to try my hand at writing my own. Over the course of the last 20 years I have probably written at least 200 – 300 Daily Affirmations or more.
A couple of years ago while working on my M.A. in English Writing at Salem State University, I started working on three different manuscripts of my Daily Affirmations and my photography. I am currently going through a final revision of my first volume, with the working title, Daily Affirmations: Intent Makes Manifest. I will be self-publishing the volume on Amazon in the weeks to come.
Over the years since I have been writing Daily Affirmations, I have so many people reach out to me and tell me I should publish a book of my affirmations and photography, so I’m here to say, I will be soon. Beyond that first volume, there are two others in the works as I have mentioned, as well as two memoirs that need to be finished. And there’s more to follow that… We’ll talk about that another time.
