Food For Thought: Sitting in Fear and Anger is Not Healthy For Anyone

We’re in the midst of some unprecedented times in the world. With Coronavirus spreading to every country and many countries scrambling to shut down businesses and keep people at home to stop the spread of the virus and flatten the curve, we’re all in a state of suspension that is nothing we could ever imagine happening prior to this.

I’ve been through a range of emotions in the last week or so, as I am sure many have. I’ve been sad, I found myself easily driven to tears, I’ve been angry and I’ve been afraid. I have no doubt I may cycle through these emotions again as we continue to hunker down around the United States and the world, waiting to for this all to pass and hoping, praying that we and our loved ones are not stricken with Coronavirus.

Last night while sitting in contemplation, I decided that in order stay strong through this all, I needed to not rise to the fear and anger, because sitting in fear and anger is not healthy for anyone ever. I know this isn’t easy to release our fear and anger, it is something we must work at, but the more we can let it go, the clearer our hearts and minds will be and the healthier we will be.

Life is always a series of tests. Life is always in flux. Life is always in motion, even when it feels like the world is standing still, which in so many regards it is. So today, I’m practicing the being in the moment as much as I can. It is my hope as I write this, and subsequently share it, that others will choose to not sit in fear and anger as well.

Be kind to one another and spread compassion and empathy to all. Namaste…

Food For Thought: Anger

Life is short and life is precious. I will never, ever understand why some people choose to live a life filled with anger and hatred.

We’ve all known these people, the ones who go to great lengths to foist their anger and hatred on others, while claiming when you might call them on it, that you are the angry person. Anger breeds anger, by its very energy emitted by others; it is a contagious, toxic thought form that permeates people and relationships, replacing loving thought with angry thought, filling up light filled spaces with darkness.

My experience with angry people is that that they carry baggage from the past that they can’t seem to let go of, even when they claim they have.

Forgiveness is the antidote to anger. Love is the antidote to fear. Be kind to one another… It is the root of compassion and the foundation of love for all beings.

Daily Affirmations: Cast Off the Mantle of Struggle

Today, I re-mind myself that carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders weighs heavy on my limbs, for burdens of life though they may stay with us for some time, are meant to be lessons that ultimately lift us up, not continually weigh us down. With my intention set at its highest purpose, I seek today and every day to let go of the burdens that I hold tight to. I release the past, I rest in the present, I go with the flow, and I let the weight that holds me down, melt away. I forgive those who need forgiveness, including myself. I accept what I may not understand. I look for blessings in the littlest of things, the briefest of moments. There I find gratitude in my day. I keep an open space in my heart that might feel compassion and love for those who like me struggle in this world. I strive this and every day to cast off the mantle of struggle and use my life to lift up others. I accept the grace that leads me. And so it is… Intent makes manifest.

Daily Affirmations: Practicing Humility

In the day to day interactions we have with other people, it is so important to remain humble. Today, I remind myself that humility does not mean I think of myself as a lesser person, it means I think I am no better than anyone else. In practicing humility, I find myself open to a greater capacity for acceptance and compassion for others. This in turn opens my heart and mind to a more loving state in which I am better able to understands the needs of my loved ones. And so it is that today I remind myself that to go forth with a humble frame of mind is to be open to see others as equal. Intent makes manifest.
